think about, but is a very important part of achieving your strength and
fitness goals.

And that subject is SKILL.

What a lot of us fail to realize is that to achieve a high level of strength
and fitness it takes skill.

Skill is defined as:
1. a : the ability to use one’s knowledge effectively and readily in execution
or performance b : dexterity or coordination especially in the execution of
learned physical tasks
2. : a learned power of doing something competently : a developed aptitude
or ability <language skills>

You see my job as a strength/ fitness coach is to give you the knowledge
and tools to help you achieve your goals.

And your job is to take the knowledge and use the tools to develop your skills.

Easier said then done eh!

You remember what is was like when you first stared playing a sport, riding a
bike, driving, learning a new job, and…well I’ll just say it, having sex!

Let’s face it, no matter how good you are at things now, it took some timeistock_000001733621medium
and lots of practice to develop the skills you have now. And some of us still
need some work in some areas. Well except for sex because we are all experts at
that aren’t we. Well at least we think we are!

Ok where was I going with this?

…Oh yeah back to skill.

Developing strength and a high level of fitness takes skill. And skill takes
practice. You know the saying: “Perfect practice makes perfect.”
When you are doing your exercises you have to make sure your form is spot on.
If not you run the risk of injury and developing bad habits. And more
importantly you have to practice with consistency. When you “practice”
your exercises the right way and often you develop a skill which translates
into results. The more results you get, the more motivated you will be about
training. Period!

If you want to be a better at pressing, squatting, lunging, running, healthy eating
and everything else in your program then you have do them and do them often.

Find your “training groove”, or “sex groove”, and whatever else you need to develop skill in and stay with it! You will thank me later and so will your significant other!

Would love to hear what you think on this so please comment below.

Thanks,
